Getting Started in Hairdressing
At 12 years old my mom suggested that I pay attention to how her stylist used her tools. With her own agenda in mind, I don’t think she realized how much I learned that day and the interest that it would ensue. At 14 I became an assistant to her stylist and have continued my love affair with the industry ever since.

Thoughts on Hairdressing
Hair to me has become another median to express my creativity.  This business has been an outlet for me, something to pour myself into, apart of me made manifest.  There are a few greater privileges than being apart of another’s confidence or how they feel about themselves, or just the subtle way they seem taller when you have completed your work. The way that your client looks at themselves, the smirk, the wide eyes, the thank you… I live for that!

Creative Influence
My client is always my creative influence.  Having the ability to draw forth ones greatest features without the use of harsh cosmetics is empowering.  There is nothing like utilizing learned techniques and tricks in combination with your clients natural self.

Most Important Tool
Aside from the genetic list of styling tools, the most important tool in this business is an open mind.  The ability to remove yourself from habits and preference and really hear your client in order to give them what they are asking for is the best tool to bring to the chair.

Favorite Technique
By far everyone can benefit from a good round brush especially when they know how to use it.  It’s never an easy purchase for me and it shouldn’t be.  You need to feel it, try it and personalize it for your hairstyle.  The results can be life changing and could limit the need for unnecessary products and even the use of a hair straightener.

Favorite Product
I am a huge advocate for oils.  The use of oils can change the condition of your hair and most importantly the outcome of your style.  One in particular that I frequently use and love is Kerastase Elixir Ultime. This can not only be used as a hair oil but it can also be used for your body.

I have been performing esthetics professionally for over 8 years. I love what I do and it reflects in the care I take in meeting and exceeding clients’ expectations.

My specialties include relaxational and hot stone massage;rejuvenating Dermalogica facials; and enjoy giving clients luscious long lashes with our Xtreme Lash extentions.

Favourite products are from Dermalogica’s “Age Smart” line- Multi Vitamin Power Firm & Multi Vitamin Thermafoliant ; and Dermal Clay Cleanser  for those with an oilier complexion.

I also enjoy getting out helping out at various shows and events that Studio H is involved in and expanding my horizons with meeting new people and keeping on the cutting edge of all aspects of esthetics.

Getting Started in Hairdressing
My mom was a hairstylist in the 80’s when I was a little girl, so I wanted to be just like her.  As I got older it always stuck with me.  That is when I enrolled in Marvel Hairstyling school.

Thoughts on Hairdressing
I am an artist in hair! There are all kinds of artists and my talent happens to be with hair.  This business is a wonderful one to be in.  I feel very blessed.  I love the energy you get from working in a salon.

Creative Influence
When I did my apprenticeship, my trainer opened my eyes to a world of opportunities in hair styling.  I get my influences  from competitors and hair magazines.  Also my work environment and surroundings  play a big part  in my influence.

Most Important Tool
Definitely my scissors are my most important tool.  They help me create shapes out of hair I could not pull off without them.

Favorite Technique
Using my scissors to take the weight out of my hair using several point cutting techniques.  This helps in creating a desired shape.

Favorite Product
I love the volume architect by L’Oreal tecni art.  A lot of my clients are always asking for volume and I tell them they can use this product and it will give them just that.  I love that when you use this product it feels weightless.

Getting Started in Hairdressing
After working at my mothers hair salon since I was 8, I never thought I would be a hair stylist.  As I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do, I realized that doing hair was my passion and I would enroll in hair school. I immediately fell in love with the whole business and couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

Thoughts on Hairdressing
I think just like any career the key is to keep learning. If you don’t embrace new techniques and styles you will stay at one level and not allow yourself to grow as an artist.  I believe that the more I learn and expose myself, the more I improve at my job.

Creative Influence
I am very influenced by editorial and avant-garde work.  I like to do things that people don’t see too often and push the boundaries of beauty.
Most Important Tool
The most important tool to me is a creative mind.  I love to think outside the box to produce new looks and styles and it is difficult to do this without creativity.

Favorite Technique
My favourite technique is razor cutting.  I enjoy the choppy look that you get from it.  It also allows you to personalize the cut extremely well.

Favorite Product
My favourite product is the L’Oreal Infinium hairspray. It comes in 2 different levels of strength so therefore can be used for whatever look you are trying to achieve.  I especially love using it when doing photo shoots to get that perfect hold.

Getting Started in Hairdressing
I was about 4 years old when I started to braid my dad’s hair.   As I got older I started to do my sister’s hair, I colored and cut it and it was then that I realized that being a stylist  was my passion.

Thoughts on Hairdressing
I love being a hair stylist because there are so many creative aspects to the profession.  It gives me great joy to see people happy with their new look.

Creative Influence
The arts in general play a major role in being my influence.  I have always had a flare for the arts.  From theatre to visual arts they continue to influence my creativity as stylist.

Most Important Tool
My most important tool would have to be hairdryer.  You can completely change the way your hair looks depending on how you use it and what attachements you use.

Favorite Technique
My favorite technique would have to be using my flat iron to curl hair.  I love how the curls don’t come out being so uniform.  To me it’s a much softer look.

Favorite Product
I have 2 favorite products. One for when I am working with curly hair and one for straight.  I love the playball curl candy because it leaves the hair soft and still keeps the curl.  When working with straight hair I love using oleo relax slim by Kerestase just before drying the hair.  It leaves the hair smooth and soft with a great shine!

Getting Started in Hairdressing
From a very young age I always played with my mom’s hair on whatever down time we spent together, from doing ponytails to braids.  As well, since I was in high school I’ve been hooked on wanting to make my friends hair look like a rock star. I believe that the funkier you can make the style, the better.

Thoughts on Hairdressing
I absolutely love this industry, especially working in a great salon where we are all a big family. I love creating new trends and being creative with not only clients, but also myself.

Creative Influence
I would have to say that rock stars are my biggest influence.  I have a huge passion for the arts and creative talent.

Most Important Tool
I think that my most important tool is my blow dryer! Hands down a great blow dry can make a bombshell sexy hairstyle.

Favorite Technique
My favourite technique is creating the beach wave look. By using my blow dryer and a big round brush with a twisting motion you can achieve the biggest volume.

Favorite Product
Kerastase’s Chroma Riche Serum. It makes a client’s colour shine and seals the hair for that beautiful summery finish.

I have been working as a professional esthetician for over 10 yrs. I love what I do; always meeting and working with people, helping them feel and look their best.

My favourite services are makeup artistry using Studio H private brand cosmetics and applying beautiful, full lashes as an Xtreme Lash expert.

Favourite products are from our skin care line, Dermalogica-Skin Smoothing Cream and Intensive Eye Repair are my go-to fundamentals.

To keep up on the trends, I scour top magazines for new ideas for makeup as well as look to what the celebrities–of –the –day are sporting.

Getting Started in Hairdressing
Hair was that favourite hobby of mine when I was growing up! I knew I wanted to be a hair stylist for as long as I can remember.  When it was time to turn that hobby into a lifetime career it opened many doors and opportunities that make my love for this career stronger everyday.

Thoughts on Hairdressing
I respect the world of fashion and beauty. I believe that hairdressing is a great way to express long lasting personal excitement, emotion, friendship and creativity!

Creative Influence
My creative influence is found all over the place. I love to keep up with the latest trends and styles by continuing education, fashion columns, and influential local stylists I meet along the way.
Most Important Tool
My most important tool I believe is my brain. I want to keep it healthy and educated so when I pick up any tool I will know how to use it immediately at its best!

Favorite Technique
My favourite technique is blending and texturizing my client’s hair.  I want to make sure that all of the haircuts I create blend together perfectly with the right amount of texture.  A cut does not feel complete unless it is done right.

Favorite Product
My favourite products are the L’Oreal Professionel Vitamino Colour Shampoo and Conditioner.  This homecare line has been awarded the best shampoo and conditioner for colour-treated hair in all of Canada.  It not only leaves your hair feeling healthy and shiny but also makes your colour last much longer.

Getting Started in Hairdressing
It all started in grade 6 when I convinced my younger sister to let me cut her hair with the kitchen scissors. Though that first cut did not look like much, it was the start of my passion for hairstyling and design.  My career began with training at DeVOG hair academy and continues to evolve as I work along side the talented staff at Studio H.

Thoughts on Hairdressing
Hairstyling is an art form which is continually changing into creative outlets. It is a wonderful feeling to allow myself and my clients to “become your best”.  This is specifically done by staying on top of the latest and hottest trends out there in the hair industry.

Creative Influence
I find creative inspiration in watching top stylists at hair shows push the limits of the industry. I enjoy bringing home a version of a new look which I then personalize to my clients own style and needs.

Most Important Tool
Next to my scissors, I would say the flat iron is my most important tool. It is a very versatile tool that allows you to curl, straighten, crimp, wave and use for many different styling techniques.

Favorite Technique
Using the flat iron to create free flowing curls is one of my favourite techniques. The end result is natural with beautiful body and wave.

Favorite Product
Kerastase Elixer is awesome. It is great for hair restoration, smoothing, protection and added shine. I love it!

Getting Started in Hairdressing
It was my ambition to become a professional hair stylist early on in life.  I have pursued a career in the industry for the last 10 years.

Thoughts on Hairdressing
I enjoy socializing and making people happy because of the passion I have for my job.  I love to show my creativity and style.  At the end of the day having my clients smile and feel good about themselves is why I  love this career.  I always strive to be on the forefront of styling trends and fashion.

Creative Influence
I have always admired fashion and art.  To me if you put the two together that is what I do for a living.  Things could not get any better than that.
Most Important Tool
My most important tool to me is my texturizing scissors.   They can remove the right amount of bulk and weight from the hair to manipulate the right movement for the style.

Favorite Technique
My favorite technique is going through the hair once it is completely dry and styled to be sure it is perfect and there is no weight lines in the hair, or no hair out of place!

Favorite Product
My favorite product is my hair spray, Fix Anti Frizz by L’Oreal.  You can use it to play with the hairs texture, or use it as a finishing spray.  It can be utilized in more than just one way.

Getting Started in Hairdressing
I began in the hair industry as a creative, open minded student.  I was looking for a career where I could express that creativity, while incorporating my love and passion for hair and making it the most flattering to each person.

Thoughts on Hairdressing
Hairdressing for me is an art.  I desire to create a hairstyle for each client of mine that enhances their assets, is flattering and is also maintainable for the client once they leave the salon.  Hairstyling for me is not a job, it is my passion.  I look forward to each day working with people and working with my most favored material, which is hair!

Creative Influence
I am inspired by things around me, but mostly I’m inspired by nature.  I love working in the salon environment, with diverse unique stylists.  Each stylist is inspiring in their own ways.  I love attending seasonal education seminars showcasing current trends, colors, and styles.

Most Important Tool
M y most important tool besides my own two hands would be my blow dryer.  You would be amazed at what only a blow dry can achieve when executed by a professional!

Favorite Technique
My favorite technique would be a twisted blow dry.  Manipulating natural curl or waves into a natural sexy hairstyle.

Favorite Product
My favorite product right now is Kerestase Nutritive Bodifying Mousse.  I t creates the perfect foundation for a lasting, flexible, shiny hairstyle.

Getting Started in Hairdressing
Although I have always enjoyed working with hair, I had originally chosen a different career path.  Recently I made a huge move  into the industry because this was something I could imagine myself doing and loving for the rest of my life.  Now here I am, living my dream.

Thoughts on Hairdressing
I love the feeling of transforming someone into a better version of themselves.  I strive on the feeling of knowing I’ve helped someone feel confident about their appearance.  When you look good, you can’t help but feel good.

Creative Influence
My creative influence for my colour work is definitely from the changing of seasons.  I use vibrant and light colours for summer, pastels for spring, warm colours for winter and rich colours for fall.  My cut/style influence definitely depends on my client’s personality.  When you really get to know your client you can determine whether they want something funkier or more subtle.

Most Important Tool
To me, every tool is important in hairstyling.  My personal favourite is my flat iron because the techniques and styles you can achieve with it are endless.

Favorite Technique
Any type of texturizing technique is very important.  It adds shape and finishes off any cut perfectly.

Favorite Product
A good volumizing and heat protecting product before styling can work wonders on all types of hair. I love working with Kerastase’s Volumactive Spray as well as Chroma Thermique to add smoothness and shine.

I have been an aesthetician since 2006. The main reason I love working in this field is that I find the transformation of clients’ frame of mind fascinating! They can arrive feeling stressed out and leave in a totally relaxed state.

I perform an array of services, but especially enjoy relaxational massages; body treatments and spa facials. Having an artistic background, I also love doing makeup applications, using our exclusive Studio H line that offers long lasting, beautiful pigmented colours.

Favourite products include all of Dermalogica’s “UltraCalming” line ; Studio H’s “Prime Time” eye and lip primer; and Cuccio’s Wheatgerm Cuticle Oil.

I find inspiration in the beauty of the natural world as well as the beauty of human nature, and love the rapport that I develop with both my clients and co-workers at Studio H.

I had been interested in hairdressing since I was a teenager. Initially self taught, I began doing photoshoots and fashion show for local designers. A few years later I went to beauty school and fast tracked my way to Studio H. I began at the Studio while in school and have made my home there. Being at the studio has allowed me the opportunity to compete in both hair and makeup on a national level.

My clients depend on me to create an up to date,  fashion forward look, that is  especially designed  for them.  It is my job to keep them current and feeling beautiful.  Aside from that I think ongoing education is an invaluable tool aswell. Having worked in the field of esthetics for the past 7 years, I find that there is a constant evolution of treatments and innovation in skin care, which I love to keep myself and my clients educated on.

As a professional skin therapist, I have a passion for performing relaxing facials, which range anywhere from Dermalogica’s Age Smart ; Ultracalming ; Medibac treatments. I also enjoy creating new looks for clients with eyebrow shaping (waxing).

Dermalogica has so many products to choose from, but my favourites include the “Age Smart” Multi Vitamin Power Concentrate to help reverse the signs of aging and the “Clean Start”  Hit The Spot to clear blemishes from any skin type.

Doing esthetics gives me the chance to make people feel better about themselves, and in turn makes me happy!

Getting Started in Hairdressing
From a young age I had a fascination with hairstyles and different techniques.  In 2006 I went to DeVog hair academy where I began my training to become a successful hairstylist.

Thoughts on Hairdressing
Hairdressing is being an artist. Each client brings you a new canvas to perform your creative ideas on.

Creative Influence
My creative influence is short and funky cuts.

Most Important Tool
I believe that the most important tool when being a stylist is your scissors.  Without these you cannot shape the hair to frame your clients face.

Favorite Technique
My favourite technique is all of the steps in my creation, but I love sculpting and adding the finishing touch.

Favorite Product
My favourite product is L’Oreal Professional anti-frizz hairspray.  This is used to maintain a strong, long-lasting hold as well as a 24-hour anti-frizz and anti-static protection.  It also enhances your shine and is quick drying with no residue.

Getting Started in Hairdressing
Since I was a little girl my love for hair was obvious.  I would practice on my friends and family when I was in elementary school and high school.  I always excelled in the arts, fashion, and makeup, so becoming a hairstylist was a perfect fit.,

Thoughts on Hairdressing
I love what I do for a living, making my “peeps” beautiful inside and out.  Being a stylist allows me to have the freedom to express myself in an artistic environment.

Creative Influence
My culinary love for different spices, textures, colours and flavours directly influences my creative choices when it comes to my hairstyles.  Like food, every person has their own flavour and through the right colour and cut I can assist my clients in bringing out their best qualities.
Most Important Tool
I think that your hands are the most important tool.  They are able to manipulate your clients hair to do whatever you want.  Without your hands styling hair would be next to impossible.

Favorite Technique
My favourite technique is texturizing.  Texturizing adds shape to your client’s haircut, making their hair to compliment their face shape.  To me, using my texturizing scissors is extremely important and allows me to be who I am as an artist.

Favorite Product
My absolute favourite product is Kerastase’s Elixir Ultime.  I use this product on my clients in a variety of ways.  It is amazing to use as a pre-shampoo treatment for repairing really dry and damaged ends. It can also be used before a blow dry to defrizz the hair and add shine.  When adding my finishing touch, I use Elixir as styling serum to smooth out my clients flyaways.  I love that a tiny amount of this oil can go a very long way.

Working as an esthtetician for over 16 years, I have seen a lot of change in this fast paced industry. I have developed a very loyal clientele over the years, but I also love meeting new ones—new challenges!

I especially love doing Microdermabrasion and Age Smart Facials, because the results are immediate and noticeable. Our new Shellac Gel polish gives  beautiful, durable colour and shine & my regular manicure clientele are true converts to this system. It’s perfect for the busy, hardworking woman on the go (zero drying time!).

My favourite products include Dermalogica’s “Age Smart” line Multi Vitamin Power Firm and their everyday exfoliant Daily Microfoliant. Our Studio H  eyeshadow palletes are beautifully designed with a wide assortment of both vibrant and soft pigmented colours.

My pleasure is in total client satisfaction and knowing that whatever a client comes in for, that they will leave with a smile.

Getting Started in Hairdressing
When I was growing up I used to style my barbies hair, chop it off, braid it, and highlight it with markers.  Eventually when I grew out of playing with dolls, I moved to real people and enrolled into hair school and began my journey into the hair world.
